EMMA FOUGHTY is a dancer, singer, and actress currently based in the Birmingham, AL area. She loves all things southern, pink, and sweet!
Emma Foughty is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at The University of Alabama School of Theatre and Dance, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. Raised in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, she grew up immersed in its thriving theatre and dance community, where she developed a strong foundation in both classical dance and musical theatre.
Emma trained extensively at the Chamberlain School of Ballet in Plano, Texas, studying under Kathy Chamberlain, Carter Alexander, Tim Fox, Suzette Mariaux, Jane Martin, and other esteemed instructors. While her early training emphasized the Balanchine Technique®, she also discovered a passion for musical theatre, jazz, and tap.
From 2017 to 2020, Emma danced pre-professionally with Chamberlain Ballet Company, performing featured roles in The Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, and What We Do With Time, an original work choreographed by Brandi Coleman for SMU Meadows School of the Arts. She later expanded her jazz and tap training at The Ballet Conservatory in Lewisville under Tracy Jordan, studying alongside Catherine Mooney Burton, Kevyn Robertson, Hillary Werthman Swalm, Dory Kyrias, and Candice Woods.
In the summer of 2022, Emma attended the Oklahoma City University Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment Summer Intensive, where she trained with Vincent Sandoval, Alana Martin, Tiffany van der Merwe, Jessica Faye, and Tye Love.
At The University of Alabama, Emma has performed in mainstage musical productions, appeared in a staged concert with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and collaborated with theatre companies throughout the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham communities.
During the summers of 2024 and 2025, Emma returned to Chamberlain School of Ballet as a faculty member, teaching jazz, dance history, and stage makeup while continuing to perform professionally throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. In fall 2025, she joined the faculty at Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre as a part-time dance instructor.
Emma has received over eleven years of vocal training under Kathy French (2014–2024), Tina Walsh (2022–2023), and Dr. William A. Martin (2023–present).
Her work has been recognized with the Newcomer of the Year Award from Rockwall Summer Musicals in 2024 and the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards for Best Choreography in 2022.
Emma is currently based in the Birmingham, Alabama, area and looks forward to completing her BFA in Musical Theatre in 2027.
